CONSTRUCTION OF NASIRIYAH TO HIGHWAY NO. (1) LINK ROAD, EXTENDING (24.6) KM
Scope of Work :
This project aims to connect Dhi Qar Governorate to International Highway No. (1) under the provisions of the Emergency Support Law of 2022. It stands as a pivotal strategic initiative for Dhi Qar Governorate, alleviating traffic congestion and reducing travel distances and times.

The road is 24.6 km long, featuring two 12-meter-wide lanes in both directions, complete with central islands. The project also encompasses painting and finishing to align with current international highway specifications. The road includes bridge-passed intersections, with one connecting to Highway No. 1, section 6, at the 138 km station, and another linking Nasiriyah internally to the surrounding road leading to the North Nasiriyah Bridge. Earthworks involve scraping, cleaning, shoulder burial with suitable soil, and addressing soft areas with 30 cm thick boulder treatment. Paving consists of a 40 cm thick compacted sub-base type (B), a 14 cm thick layer of "Stabilizer coarse" for milled areas with spray (Prime coat), a 7 cm thick layer of asphalt concrete wearing course, and spraying (Tack coat) with compaction. The surface layer is 5 cm thick and treated with polymer for enhanced load-bearing capacity. The project also encompasses the construction of single culverts (1 m and 60 cm in diameter) made of reinforced concrete, box culverts, and the implementation of 62 manholes in the central islands. Road surface markings will utilize hot thermoplastic road marking with reflective granules, and guardrails, regulatory signs, and guide signs will be installed. Additionally, bridge works include pillar excavation, column cap pouring, shoulder work, and other related tasks.
